June 16, 2021 — Texas Dachshund enthusiast Kimberly Metcalf did a reading of my Pacific Northwest-based How Dachshunds Came To Be on Facebook Live for the Summer Reading Program–Young Learners ages 2–6 of the Audrey Pack Library, Spring City, Tennessee.
The REPLAY is available on YouTube via the Audrey Pack Library page on Facebook and it is so much fun!
We are covering the map with dachshunds!
Kimberly has an extremely popular Facebook page called Adventures of Woody and Hazel, with over 15,000 followers. One of the followers, Cindy Wilkey, is a librarian at Audrey Pack Memorial Library in Spring City, Tennessee. Cindy reached out to Kimberly and asked her if she would be willing to read a dachshund book on Facebook Live for the library's Summer Reading Program for children, “Tails and Tales.” Cindy sent her my book, How Dachshunds Came To Be, and Kimberly liked it so much that she ordered the other two books in the Tall Tales series. She also said, "Yes!" to doing the reading.

Elated and inspired, Kimberly messaged me about the possibility of writing her own book. We made a phone date and spoke for almost an hour!
I contacted the librarian, Cindy, to express my appreciation, and she wrote back:
“It's an honor to highlight your book and the fact you reached out to us, squeal! Our theme is 'Tails and Tales,' so it's perfect; we also use animals/pets to teach positive character, both in our story time selections and books purchased for our Children's Library. Thank you so much for this delightful book.
"I am the mother of two lil' doxies so I'm always on the lookout for doxie anything. I was browsing books on Amazon and the cover really caught my attention, it was beautiful! I read the blurb provided and knew I had to have it; not only did it answer the age-old question 'why are wiener dogs so long?" while allowing the reader to appreciate their special traits and characteristics."
Kimberly will be accompanied by her husband John and their dachshunds Woody and Hazel during the reading via video from Longview, Texas.

About the Audrey Pack Memorial Library
Leonard Pack, former mayor of Spring City, was responsible for the construction of the city hall on West Rhea Avenue that later became the home of the Spring City Library.
In 1995, Pack offered to fund and supervise the total restoration of the old Spring City Library in memory of his late wife, Audrey, who was the first librarian in Spring City. Mrs. Pack housed the first books in her lingerie shop in the late '40s and early '50s.
On August 15, 1998, the renovated building was dedicated as the Audrey Pack Memorial Library in memory of Mrs. Audrey.

October 4, 2020 was the Virtual Book Birthday celebration and Book Launch of the Second Edition of How Dachshunds Came To Be A Tall Tale About a Short Long Dog, the first book in my Tall Tales Series.
Why a 2nd edition?
After my very first Tall Tale in English launched on October 4, 2012, I kept getting the same constructive suggestion for this book: the font was too busy for early readers. Yes, it was elegant, old-fashioned, old-timey, and fun for adults. But the book needed a cleaner font.
As a result, in Books 2 and 3, I was intentional about having a cleaner font. Then I realized that Tall Tale #1 needed to match the other two and be more user-friendly for young children.

With this 2nd edition of How Dachshunds Came To Be, I added a bilingual French edition for the first time. Spanish, German, and French versions are available in bilingual print editions and single-language Kindle ebooks.
Readers can now have a matched set of Tall Tales in which all three books are look-alikes in their font and format.
You may be wondering: How did my Tall Tales book series come about? The backstory for my Tall Tales is in an 11-minute podcast here on my website About page.
