World Dachshund Day 2025!
Dachshunds: Smooth/Short-Haired, Long-Haired, Wirehaired, Oh My!
The event welcomed sixty plus dachshunds/dogs and eighty plus of their people!
Dachshunds of all colors, sizes, and hair styles gathered for World Dachshund Day 2025 at 3 p.m. at Lynndale Park Amphitheater on June 22nd.
Dachshund lovers in Australia initiated this event in 2019 with hopes the idea would spread around the globe. The event:
*Celebrates our dachshunds (and wannabe doxies)
*Fosters Community
*Highlights support for local dachshund rescues
The occasion included photo ops, a walk along the paved Lynndale Park paths, and a relaxed opportunity for doxie/dog lovers to mingle while the dogs played freely in a 12’ x 12’ portable fenced area.
Each family was gifted a greeting card with a dachshund illustration from the renowned artist Scott Ward.
Enclosed in the card was a flyer highlighting four local dachshund rescues:
- Hearts4Doxies Rescue
- Oregon Dachshund Rescue
- Portland Dachshund Rescue
- Dachshund Rescue NW and Dachshund Club of Spokane

Great work on the day of the event but especially in the weeks before as you made the arrangements and the publicized the event well ahead of time in a variety of ways. Because of this not just people with dachshunds from greater Seattle were able to be here but also from Olympia to Arlington and from Puyallup and the Kitsap Peninsula!
