Kindness! Sesame Street Style

In honor of Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary on PBS, several journalists have been invited to interview many of its beloved characters and the segments are then featured on their respective newscasts or programs.

Sesame Workshop announced that throughout 2019 it will sponsor several programs to continue to “bring people together around the timeless lessons that Sesame Street has always taught: everyone, no matter who they are or where they are from, is equally deserving of respect, opportunity—and joy.” 

As a young mother, I remember how important the show was for my children and for me, not just in learning their ABCs, but more importantly watching basic principles modeled, including kindness, compassion, love, diversity, and the value of community. 
Now, as a children’s author and a grandparent, I am delighted that this program continues on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the US and is also broadcast via co-productions in 140 countries around the globe, with the show tailored to the children viewing in their home country.
